Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of 11 players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The main objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal, predominantly using the feet, although players can use any part of their body except their hands and arms to control the ball—with the exception of the goalkeeper, who is allowed to use their hands within a designated area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is played in various forms around the world, with association football (commonly referred to as soccer in some countries) being the most widely played and recognized variant.

Football has a rich history and cultural significance in many nations, and it is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, skill, and athleticism. Major international competitions include the FIFA World Cup and continental tournaments such as the UEFA European Championship, which showcase the sport’s global appeal and competitive nature.
