Football

Football, commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal using any part of the body except the hands and arms, which are reserved for the goalkeeper. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with a goal at each end. It is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, featuring various competitions and leagues, including the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and domestic leagues like the English Premier League, La Liga in Spain, and Serie A in Italy. It promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and strategy, making it not just a sport but also a significant cultural phenomenon across different countries. The game has a rich history, evolving over the centuries from various ball games played in different cultures to the standardized form recognized today.
